ty evil, I will call him and see if its there, the car has already been pick through, only reason I got the motor was the last guy wouldnt return the sellers calls. But do you guys still think I spent to much on that motor? and I still plan on fixing this issue before I convert it cause like you said I could do all of this and still have same issue, and it will be professionally done so yea you guys can breathe.

If you got all that other stuff with it, no. The price is pretty good. But I wouldn't use that engine at all if it's already bad. Just bolt on all the turbo goodies to your existing block.

Have you figured out the starter issue yet? When you do that, do a compression test on your current motor.

Starter issue I am working on right now but am finally making a little head way. alright i went and purchased a new optima red top. just for the hell of it tried to just start it. Nothing comes on no warning lights nothing. i sit there and started messing with the key turning it on off on off quickly finally the warning lights started dimly coming on. Now if i keep doing that untill they arre bright I can finally hear the starter try to engage but just cuts out. I than took the 12v wire off the starter turn the key to ON and immediately all warning lights are bright plug it back in and they go dim again.

correction that wire did nothing, if i keep playing with the key sometimes everything will come on ( warning lights, compass, acceleration ) except sometimes extremely dimmed if dimmed it wont do a thing, no starter noise. when they are bright than I get a CLICK from starter and than everything disappears. except security light

ECU has nothing to do with the starter.

well I know that, but I was checking to see if the ECU was getting power to turn everything on. Cause the fuel pump sometimes wont even get power, same throughout most of the electrical system. Before it got to bad today, I went out and turned the key to ON and put a jump wire on the starter.. and as soon as I touched it to the battery it killed the entire system. So my next step is taking that starter off now and having it tested.

could this be the root of the electrical problem? causing it to arc out and draw all the power away from stuff? and make things turn on thats off?

starter tested good, but I am having it rebuilt anyway, while I am waiting on that I ran the diagnostics on the ECU.. here are my codes..... 12, 23, 31..... and from what the ecu guide said 12 = Air Flow, 23 = Idle Switch, 31 = Load Signal..

if arcing the starter kills the system, and the starter is good, your wiring is way f'd up, start byt havign a good look at the battery cables, make sure they have good clean solid connections at both ends, then start chasing your ground wires

Back again guys, still working on it. I have just about went through every wire in the car testing them etc etc. And as of now its still pointing towards the starter. for some unknown reason, I was going to rebuild it last time I had it off. but decided not too so its off and getting rebuilt. Just to make sure ALL of the wires are there.. I only have 2 wires going to the starter, postive and the 12v, thats all that should be there right? One person said I should have a ground and another positive going from starter to Alternator?

the main battery ground wire sometimes gets grounded at one fo the starter mounting bolts, if not it's bolted to one of the trans case bolts

the starter should receive the positive battery cable and the small trigger wire

Got the starter back saturday, apparently the armiture and something else was bad. But the repair guy said the starter shouldnt be causing the power issue, said its more of a MAIN wire system either the ground or could be the positive. But he wasnt for sure on this car due to all the electricial it has. Its been snowing so havent had a chance to install the starter yet and see what happens. But could it have been the starter?

My guess is you have a bad ground somewhere. OK for low load like dome light but cannot handle the starter load. Yank on the ground cables, check engine to chassis ground specifically.

Hey guys, wanted to thank you for all the help, I finally got all the electrical sorted out and was able to "kinda" here the car for the first time. I did find that 4 Relays were bad above the fuse box,. And that the Fuel pump isnt engaging, and I was wanting to do a test on it, Basicly jumper wire it, and was wonder. Which wires on the FP harness is the positive? What color do I need to jump to see if it works?
