let me just say first off.. this thing is a ***** to change out while the turbo and manifold is still on the engine, and while the engine is inside the car....

but anyways... I was trying to upgrade to a divorced elbow and I have 2 questions...

1. How the hell do you tighten the nut on this one? Is there a special trick or tool? With whatever wrench or tool I try, the transmission gets in the frekkin way for me to even try anything...

2. Now.. how the hell do you even fit a nut on that stud??? When I put the elbow on... the stud almost even touches the elbow itself... let alone trying to slide a nut on it.

not having ever seen an SR.... i'll still try to offer help. For #1.... universals... on a 1/4 drive socket. You wouldn't believe the places i've been able to get those into...(<- that doesn't sound right )

#2 cut the stud shorter?

I have the same fun time doing this so I will give you my $.02.

I use a stubby wrench on #1. I have tried 1/4" drive, universals, ratcheting wrenches, etc and the only thing I have found to work fairly well is a small open end wrench. I found mine in a cheap tool set at walmart I think.

As for nut #2, I usually start the bottom three nuts all at the same time starting with #2. YOu have to put the elbow on just enough so the stud comes thru and you can start the nut on it. In my case, I have to thread it on a little, then start nut#1 a bit then #2,#1,#2 and so on. Eventually the elbow will sit flush to the turbo and you can start the rest. I would also use lockwashers and high temp loctite.

Hope it helps.

For #1 I used a ratcheting wrench with the socket insert to get it it on most of the way, then I had to use the open end of it, it was like a 1/4 turn at a time which sucks.

Like stated previously, #2 needs to be started before the elbow is slid all the way on to the studs...
