Looks like a magnetic anomaly to me. I remember either this, or something very similar going around a few months ago.

You are correct. Due to the flow of the plasma, the sun often creates very brief but localized magnetic poles which extend out of the surface like the video shows.

My guess is that the field disappeared rapidly and the resulting radiation just pushed away what particles that remained on the magnetic field line.
