I test drove a 2003 Sentra SE-R spec-V today.. for my girlfriend.. not me. (but WOW that's a damn nice car.....for a sentra). Anyway, the salesman and I started talking cars, and he told me that Nissan is releasing the Skyline R35, V-Spec, and GTR models in the U.S. All of them will use the Maxima V6?????? Is this guy blowing smoke up may a$$ or is this for real? I don't know much about Skylines.. I've heard of the GTR and R34, R35 etc... what's the V-spec? Are these going to be another watered down USDM car like our 240's, or are they any good?

me thinks the V-spec is the highest level the skyline is produced in. Wait I take that back. They just made a few R34 NUR-Spec's (kickass gold/bronze color) to end the run of the current skyline (correct me if I'm wrong)

The big issue is whether the R35s will have the RB26DET engine or a NA VQ engine. (a more powerful version of the one in the new Z) There are new emission laws in Japan that may bring about the end of the powerfull turbo engines( RB26, 2JZ, Rotary ...once again correct me if I'm wrong)

Whether the R35 will come here is another matter that i don't know of. The new infinity car, (G something) has the same engine.

Most sales people don't know s*** and only know what they are told. (note I said MOST)

I think it's best if you keep your *** clear of smoke and your ears close to the ground. THE INJUNS are coming! The INJUNS are coming!!!!!!

I had heared that they were going to use a 3.5 liter V8 TT for the us version. But i think that was just a rumor. But that would be sweet.

The USDM Infiniti G35 IS the Skyline 350 GT-8 in Japan that runs off of an VQ35DE (NEO). Im not too sure what the US designers have planned for the US models but i wouldnt be shocked if it was just a NA V-6.

Yes turbo is dead in Japan, they are getting everything we get. The new Z there has the same engine we do. The G35 is supposed to be the new 4 door Skyline in Japan, with the same engine (with a bump in power I'm sure). As far as I've read we'll be getting the Skylines, and it is still up in the air as to what will be powering the new GT-R.

The new M45 coming out is also the new Cedric/Gloria in Japan. They are finally bringing the cars over (of course after all the turbos are gone:rolleyes ).

G35. It's got the VQ35DE engine (the same one from teh 350Z). This is as close to a skyline as we'll get, unless you import one yourself.

to quote MAXIMUS Nismo: "me thinks the V-spec is the highest level the skyline is produced in. Wait I take that back. They just made a few R34 NUR-Spec's (kickass gold/bronze color) to end the run of the current skyline (correct me if I'm wrong)"

Yes, you are correct, they did, but you are forgetting two things... the V-Spec was updated during the reigns of the R32 and R34 GT-Rs and was renamed the V-SpecII, which, while not BETTER than the NUR, it was the best "normal" version of the GT-R. You also neglected to mention the greatest (and rarest) of GT-R (though the greatness is my opinion) the 400R, a limited editon R33 with a special stripe along the side, different rims, and I believe a little extra oomph under the hood, only 40 of them were made. Just thought I'd clear that up...And... the difference btween a V-Spec and just :rolleyes a GT-R is that the V-Spec has a driver controlled VCD that can be shifted in the cockpit, to allow for power to be redistributed as the driver deems necessary : ). Also, for those of you who need a nugget of wisdom, R-33, R-34, and R-32 are NOT model distinctions, rather, they are chassis codes and the only major difference between the R-33 and both the other most recent GT-Rs is that the R-33's VCD did not allow all the power to be shifted to either pair of drive wheels, this allowed for faster launches and better handling, without the "excessive" tail-happiness the R32 and R34 GT-R's are known for... Sorry this was so long guys.

When is unknown, but I've heard 07' check the post "Blackbirds" on the Skyline forum for the letter Nissan sent me about bringing over the GT-R, but remember, that was PR people, not someone who would actually give any real info.

if they bring the skyline over here, it ain't gonna be a real skyline cause it'll be RHD, etc etc. not as powerful cause of emisions, etc etc. so, i'll keep my 240 :D

Technically, the G35 is a Skyline, but I think maineimport is more interested in the GT-R, as we all are, and it is, as we all know and love, AWD.

yeah I knew someone here would have the full story. My dumb @ss is gonna go fire up Gran Turismo and check out the 400R. Me thinks I saw the bastard there once. It was white with the stripes down the side as you said.

In its current state, it doesnt look like there will be room or need for customization of the new skyline, but, wait till bomex, trail, signal and not to mention veilside get there hands on them. The produced body kits gonna blow our minds.

As to exactly when they'll be coming here. Me knows not but I'll still try to get a test drive ( the same way I test drove a new M3 and a NSX.....ignorance is bliss)

Gran Turismo 3 is how found out about the 400R, though the fact that only 40 were made came from my brother, who did a little GT-R research one day. THe VCD factoid came both from my brother and my own research. However, I don't have the full story, in fact, some might say I know very little, this is the constant struggle of the gearhead. When Gran Turismo goes online, and your *** gets handed to you by a black R34 GT-R V-SpecII, take a look at the name of the driver : ).

me thinks i won't agree with u.

fact: the RB26DETT is the reaaason we offer our younger siblings to the caar gods.

fact; this is a mucho kick@ss engine.

But, if there is something better that will replace it, why not accept(sp?) it? like i said b4, there are more things that make the car a skyline other than the engine, , you got the suspension which is top notch, the taillights which everyone knows, the surfing line, the aerodynamic components [mainly undercar diffusers]

Maybe, tuners will be able to put the RB26DETT in the new car if they don't line the one it will come with.

just my thoughts....

Except that the RB26 is discontinued.

Also, the RB26 is the trademark of the GT-R.

Also, to me, while this new car may be a Skyline, it isn't a GT-R.

And one last thing, I think its ugly anyways so it doesn't matter what engine it comes with. Its just like a woman, she may be the best thing since sliced bread, but unless you're a deep person ( I'm shallow ) then you won't hook up with her because you don't wanna be seen with her/you don't like the looks of her. : ) You can only brown bag so much.
