Folks:
It is easy. Infiniti is one of a few car manufacturers that is producing V-6 engines without any turbo or supercharger and yet making over 300 HP. Thus, its high reliability rating. The BMW uses a turbo and when they are not using a turbo, they automatically upgrade their engines to a V-8. Infiniti and Nissan is almost alone in this engine segment and thus leaving them room to run rings around BMW. Lexus has no response to this, Honda has no response yet----both auto companies best V-6 are only pushing 306 HP till date, without any turbos. So, in a way, no one is really competing with Nissan/Infiniti. They are competing with themself.
Oh, the Wallstreet Journal had a piece on the Nissan GTR, Page W6, October 24, 2008. They literally thrashed other competitors of the GTR. The article said, "......this is not just any halo car, but one fit for an archangel." The article goes on to say, "driving this car makes you feel like Usain Bolt." Finally, it says, ".....the GTR is even easy to drive , installing a profound confidence often absent in vehicles with such exaggerated abilities. (Yes, I 'm talking about you, Chevy Corvette Z06)".
Need I say more, The Wallstreet Journal and US News and World Report all have come to a fine conclusion about Nissan's products. Both journals are routinely unbiased about their news---they tell it like they see it, unlike Motor trend or car and driver. They think Nissan is flying under the radar and other auto manufacturers don't even realize it yet. By the way, the Nissan GTR is still being studied by other manufacturers in terms of its advanced engineering in relation to its stunningly low cost of sales.
