Typical HUD/Speedometer and Cluster Problem...!

Ok, So I have read just a bout everyones HUD/Speedometer and Cluster electrical problems. I have read the Tech pages on how to fix both problems. I am more concerned about my cluster illumination problem then the HUD/Speedo. I have had an aftermarket stereo installed. So I took the TCU out to see If I could visually see a burnt trace. I did not visually see any problems. Here is a nother question. My AC/Heater controls and glove box have illumination. However my Cluster does not. Am I missing something...? (Like My Brain)?

Have you had the cluster out?

There are copper traces on a thin plastic membrane with thin sections which appear to work like a fusable link. I shorted mine out working on my HUD and had to repair that thin section.
