Another weekend, another typhoon. They really underestimated this one. Peak wind on the island was recorded as 180mph. I watched helplessly as my little truck was pushed against the curb and started to do an endo. :frown: I parked it purposefully there to be straight on to the wind and the gamble paid off, it didn't flip.

This guy was not so fortunate.

Anybody need some S15 parts?

Neither was he.

Dam! Real good thinking ahead of the storm though. A Catagory 5 Hurricane is >157mph. What kind of house damage was there, pics :) Weather is awesome.

I could google it, but what's the difference between a typhoon and a hurricane?

The only difference between a hurricane, a cyclone, and a typhoon is the location where the storm occurs.
Hurricanes, cyclones, and typhoons are all the same weather phenomenon; we just use different names for these storms in different places. In the Atlantic and Northeast Pacific, the term “hurricane” is used. The same type of disturbance in the Northwest Pacific is called a “typhoon” and “cyclones” occur in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean.

A hurricane would need a passport to hit Japan, and vice versa.

It appears he was a fisherman. I'm not sure what he thought was biting in that kind of sea condition.

I saw those videos the other day and can't help but wonder, are those bento boxes on wheels really that light? Oh why does it appear that pretty much every japanese person has them because theres one in practically evry parking spot in both videos. Love how the red Camaro is like "wind, what wind" while every other car gets blown around the parking lot.
