my manual mentioned something about a type a and type b.

ever notice, some g35's have the word "infiniti" spread across the trunk and the only way to open the trunk is either with the remote, or the switch inside the car (no handle on the trunk, no keyhole) and then there's the ones with "infiniti" less spaced out in the center and a hande for the trunk on the outside.

i myself thought there were 2 models made, and when looking throught the manual, i came across the type a and b.

i only want to know, is other than that, are there any other differences.

It looks to be specific to the Sedan. I have a Coupe so I'm not as familiar. But what year is your car? I don't see anything that refers to this on Infiniti's website. I'm trying to figure out if maybe they are referring to an option package. Perhaps it's something specific to an earlier model, in which case, it might be more difficult to find information on. Give me more specifics on your vehicle and I'll try to see what I can find out.

Interesting. The 2003 G35 Sedan does appear to have a "Type A" and "Type B" option for the rear trunk opener (distinct from the G35 Coupe). The Manual pages (3-11 and 3-12) distinguish this quite clearly.

I would guess that this change was one of the 2003.5 model year change items (as I recall, there was a mid-year modification to the G35 in 2003 that was designated a Year 2003.5 model.)

I do not know which Type refers to which year, though!

By the way, both options (and the Coupe) have a separate secondary trunk release that is accessible through the rear seat door - in case the battery is dead/disconnected.

The so called Type A is the 2003 sedan and the Type B is the 2003.5 sedan. I am not sure of all of the changes, but I do know that the trunk lid changed slightly to be more in line with the coupe. The type A has a little handle in the middle with Infiniti squished onto it . The type B did away with this. I think this is really the only change that was made. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

You are welcome!

You may also be able to get more specific information about the actual changes from the 2003 model to the 2003.5 model from an Infiniti dealer or from Corp Customer Service.

Infiniti is very helpful in answering these detailed questions too!
