if the upper timing chain is loose does that mean the bottom one is also?i have a de on an engine stand and i noticed that the chain had alot of play in it,i saw one at the junkyard and it was tight but a little rusty.thats the only one ive seen so im not sure whats up,should i just buy the upper chain and tensioners or get the whole kit?any input would be great especially from NISTECH.thank you!

If I had my engine out of the car, I'd replace both tensioners, guides, both chains, thermostat, water pump, oil pump, oil seals...everything that could possibly wear out.

If it's an otherwise healthy but high mileage engine, I'd replace all the stuff that's a pain in the *** to fix when the engine's in the car.

I don't see why a problem with the upper chain would necessarily indicate a problem with the lower one as well. Still, how would you feel about trying to replace the lower chain if it starts making noise 6 months from now?

you can check out courtesy parts. 300 from autozone for non-genuine parts is bs. Tell em to shove it. If you're gonna do a timing chain job, might as well do the full job so you don't have to wrestle with it later. Like the old saying goes, measure many times and cut once.
