Situation: new summer wheels purchased (19" Sport OEM). I just realized that I dont have another set of TPMS sensors. From reading online they already come preprogrammed and I would need to get the programed to my car evertime I switch out my wheels. What are some of the other solutions?

Im sure others up North have 2 sets of wheels.

Appreciate the help.

Not sure if this helps, but I just bought 4 new tires / wheels for my 09 M in February. Bought them from Tire Rack and had them mounted, balanced, and shipped with 4 new TPMS. They listed them as "Schrdr 315mhz sensors - 5.5nm" and cost $41 each. I had them linked to the car at the dealer - they charged 30 min labor (about $75 to do all four). Far as I know, they do NOT come pre-programmed, but they need to have the right frequency (mhz) for your model year, etc.
Perhaps a member who know more about this can also chime in.

Okay so if I get them programmed once, i wouldnt need to go back again. Just switch the wheels when I want to.

Far as I know, the car can only link with one sensor per location and it does will not keep the summer tires in memory whilst linked to the winter wheels. So I reckon you will need to visit the dealer once for summer and once for winter, but only for the two rear wheels.

*** I'm wondering if you should get an alignment with each rear wheel change. If so, go to a place like Tires Plus, etc and get their 3-yr special. It costs about as much as two regular alignments, but you get to use it as often as every 3,000 miles for the whole 3 years with no charge. They even transferred the 3-yr deal from my old 07 M to the newer 09 M for no charge. I have had two alignments on this 09 M (one after a regular tire rotation, and one after the new wheels were installed, and paid nothing for them.

In my scenarios I've switched wheels from g37, gtr, and with oem tpms and they have always synced up without going to the dealer to get programmed.

i'm having the same dilemma... i just got 4 summer wheels with aftermarket tpms installed but i did not realize I would have to take them to a tire shop (not necessarily a dealer) to get them reprogrammed EVERY season change. That means every swap from summer to winter wheels or vice versa you need to get them relearned again because the tpms can only hold 4 or 5 (some cars hold spare tire but i doubt our car does) wheels at 1 time.

the easiest solution i think for someone doing this is to do something like this is to buy this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-ATEQ-Quicks ... 16&vxp=mtr

with that you can plug it into the obd yourself and manually program each season without having to pay someone else to do it. you have to know the sensors id's and your all set.

From my understanding, for the 06+ Ms, they would work as mex says.
As long as you buy the right sensor (frequency-wise), you never have to see the dealer. You have to drive at a certain speed for some time and they will sync to your car.
Which means you can have multiple sets of wheels with the correct TPMS sensors in them and just swap them out and drive for some time, no need to program every time

I have switched my OEM TPMS from OEM 18s to 19s sports wheel and now to Niche wheels and they sync fine after some time of driving.

I haven't had the experience, but I have always understood that the system should work as Mex and Ed state. TireRack used to even say this about my car. However, there are several people on this particular forum that state otherwise, and TireRack now states programming is required as well. That having been said, thanks for the comment, Mex, but can you confirm you're referring to the 2006 M45 Sport?
