The ticking sound coming from my pathfinder turns out to be the ac compressor bearing now they quated me 600 for a new ac compressor clutch assembly this was not at the dealership and i was wondering if you could just replace the bearing because they werent sure?

Also a fairly stupid question but all the same what are some advantages to turning the overdrive off iv never had this in a vehicle.

if you have the answer to only one of these id love to hear it all the same thanks.

Theres really no advantage to turning off the O/D, ur truck will just stay in 4th gear and rev higher (consume more fuel). You should shut it off if ur towing, leaving it on while towing is harder on the transmission. Don't know about the ac clutch, but i think they want to replace the whole thing cause its easier for them/ possibly cheaper.
