Hopefully someone can lead me in the right direction with my problems.

1.) When I fill up my car, the pump will click well before the tank is full. I'll try to get more gas to go in but it just keeps clicking and not allowing me to put anymore in. When I get back in the car, I only end up having a little more than 3/4s a tank of gas.

2.) The springs on the car creak like crazy, I dont think it has had any ill effects on the performance of the car but it sounds extremely ghetto when I'm driving down the road and hit bumps, going over speed bumps, or getting in and out of the car.

Can anyone give me any info about either of these problems?

Thanks

whats your mileage on the car? Springs could be shot. Are the roads full of pot holes?

1) Has something to do with the gas tank valve... Someone should be around soon to give you details or you could try searching, but I can't give you good search terms. Sorry

2) Are you sure it's the springs? My 05 made weird creaking noises everytime I gave it gas or slowed down. I took it to the dealer and they had a TSB which required lubing the rear axles.

If it is the suspension, then I'd check bushings and struts mounts first.

Depends on the driving conditions and mileage. Its not common for our cars to need spring replacement but it fits the symptoms more than anything else.

You define the sound as a "creak" not a "clunk" right?

Bushings have not been an issue, but front strut mounts are terrible if you get a clunk. You will notice that over bumps, small or big, in the road.

Either way, I'd recommend putting on a 350Z suspension(revised) for a little lower ride, and better dampening/spring rates. While you do that you can put new strut mounts on as well.

Its definitely a creak, Im pretty familiar with car suspensions and in no way does this problem cause any handling issues and its def not a clunk. I use to have a car that would bust the sway bar end links and that would make one loud clunk when you hit a bump, but this is nothing like that.

It sounds like a creaky old car seat with the coil springs underneth and they would be so noisy when you bounced around in the seat. Its just an annoyance now but I want to be take care of the issue if its something that can be fixed easily.

As for the gas tank, I found the tsb on it, its some kind of fuel sensor in the neck of the tank that shuts off the gas flow. Thanks for all your help and input.

I've heard a creaking sound before that I narrowed to the E-brakes. If the E-brakes weren't on, no creak.

Other than that, I dont know what else to tell you....

The creaking sound is most likely the compression rod which is a suspension component. It's no big deal, it's just a sound, nothing is actually wrong with your car. I would still replace it tho.

I don't think you want to put revised 350z suspension on the AWD G35 as someone suggested.

I believe it's called a Shrader valve (sp?) they replaced that on my 05 when I had that problem.

Was yours intermitent or did it just happen all of a sudden?

I had that issue once a couple of weeks ago, but nothing since.

Called Infiniti and the guy told me that the gas tank issue wouldn't be covered unfortunately since I am outside the warranty.

He admitted that this is a known problem but since it is not a safety issue, there probably would never be a recall.

As for the suspension, I guess I will just have to learn to live with the squeaking .

Did the infiniti guy say how much it would cost you, and I guess that cant be under the powertrain only the basic warranty.

Nope, but he was saying, blah blah blah this would cost a couple hundred, then they need to take out the backseat and the fuel tank and labor would cost a couple hundred.

So overall, it sounded like he was estimating above $500, but he never actually gave me a figure since there was NO WAY I would pay that money for a problem that doesn't affect the safety or performance of the car.

It just kinda irritated me how matter of factly he was when he acknowledged the problem as common.

Ive got to admit that Im not very satisfied with Infiniti reliability.

In the past year I have had the 2 problems stated above.

The Throttle body sensor went bad and put me in limp mode.

The rear passenger caliper froze up and needed replaced

The drivers seat wobbled like a ***** and was horrible till the frame was replaced.

Never ever had this many problems with my acura

Yeah the same thing happened to me once or twice, but the next time I filled up it was fine and haven't had problems since.

I'm wondering the same thing.

It was intermitent...then always started to happen. It is a common problem with these cars... my Moms M35 just started doing it too.

It's weird for me to read all these problems many people here have with their Infiniti's. This is my second one, I pound the car everywhere I go and have never really had any sort of problems, squeeking, clunking etc...
