normal. its just a cold sensor. we have whole threads about this2013RogueSE wrote:Guys, it's been very cold here in Toronto lately, it was blow -25 celsius today when I first started the car, noticed the air bag light kept flashing, I left and let the car warm up and came back after a few minutes and the light was no longer flashing. normal. bolts are made from different material than heat shield. bolts are steel. heat shields are aluminum.2013RogueSE wrote:Another thing I noticed yesterday while checking my oil level (which was fine) was that the exhaust shield in front of the engine, the side closer to the alternator, where one of the screws is was kind of off color, like slight yellow tint. The rest of the shield is nice silver and shiny however, around the top left part where one of the bolts holding it down close to the alternator had some what of a yellowish haze, is this normal? I'm not having any issues, however, could this be a sign of leaky exhaust manifold or something similar. Anyone else notice this discoloration on their Rogue?
I believe the reason for this is because the seat hardens at low temperatures, which places pressure on the sensor that detects whether someone is in the seat. My Rogue has yet to do it this year, but the first year I had it, it happened a couple of times.2013RogueSE wrote:Guys, it's been very cold here in Toronto lately, it was blow -25 celsius today when I first started the car, noticed the air bag light kept flashing, I left and let the car warm up and came back after a few minutes and the light was no longer flashing. It's around the bolt, on the heat shield itself, almost like that part of the shield was covered in some protective oil coating from the factory that got burned off..?ImStricken wrote:normal. its just a cold sensor. we have whole threads about this2013RogueSE wrote:Guys, it's been very cold here in Toronto lately, it was blow -25 celsius today when I first started the car, noticed the air bag light kept flashing, I left and let the car warm up and came back after a few minutes and the light was no longer flashing. Seems kinda worrisome...after all a -25 morning isn't exactly a rare occurrence (depending on where you live). One would think they would be able to build the sensor to deal with it. Does this mean that your air bag won't operate properly until the car is warmed up??!! I have had an Altima for the last 10 years and it hasn't had this issue (and that car spent half it's life dealing with central Alberta mornings).....calling it "normal" seems ill advised.it was blow -25 celsius today when I first started the car, noticed the air bag light kept flashing
ill advised? gain half my experience with THIS car, then you can be the judge regarding my advice. is it a design flaw? maybe. is it normal/common? YES! OP, keep an eye on it - and visit the dealer if you wish. (especially if its still under warranty)RyleyinSTL wrote:Seems kinda worrisome...after all a -25 morning isn't exactly a rare occurrence (depending on where you live).
