They each have 150k miles on them. The red one had Amsoil and 7500 mile interval oil changes. The blue one had Shell Rotella 15-40 wt and 3k mile interval oil changes.

The trucks run good, no smoke. The Blue one burns less than a qt every3k miles. The red one burns about a qt every oil change.

The Amsoil looks cleaner. My own crankcase is nasty compared to those pics. I am running non-synthetic varieties in either 5w30 or 10w30 weights depending on the season.

I forgot the details, but Amsoil did invent synthetics. I guess some synthetics are just some kind of cracked mineral oil instead of actual synthetic molecules. Again, let me say that I forgot where I read this info or I would gladly post it, but Amsoil is really synthetic. Maybe someone can jump in here and help. Interesting stuff.

I used Redline in my old Altima and I liked the results. I am running Redline in my transmission right now. It's just really hard to get around here locally since Advanced Auto stopped carrying it.

Here's the post that caught my eye the other day, it was on some Dodge Dakota site. I will just copy and paste it...

"The following brands of "synthetic" are not realy synthetic at all: Quaker State Synthetic, Penzoil Synthetic, Valvoline Synthetic, Tech 2000,Rotella Synthetic,Castrol Syntec. All of these brands use hydrocraked dino oil. The stick the refined oil in a huge tank and expose it to extreeme tempetures and pressures to crack the wax once dewaxed these oil are alot better then regular refined oil but they are not as good as true synthetics!!!!! It is funny that they are putting your oil through the same enviroment that it would see in a race engine and then filtering it putting additives in it and calling it synthetic. They even have the nerve to charge you the same price as a real synthetic oil. P.S. THeir are other oils that claim to be synthetic and are not but I do not have a list of them. In the old days Hydrocracked oils were marketed as "Prmeium Oils". I officaly ran out of Mobile 1 today so I will be useing Amsoil from here on out! It took me a year and a half of changeing oil in two vechiles to use up all of my stock pile. i even gave cases of Mobil 1 away to family for their vechiles to try and use it up faster"

*The previous paragraph is not my words, but I found it interesting.*

any other info on differences?

Ya the blue truck was photo’d in the bright sunlight the red truck was photo’d in the garage. The Amsoil motor was quite a bit cleaner- sorry for the lighting differences. Look at the red trucks valve cover , the blue trucks was not this clean it was discolored like the area just to the right of the exhaust valve by the fire wall.

or which you prefer?Amsoilbecause iv been running rotella on it.SR is a good oil. Big city, summer traffic Amsoil will lube your motor better.

Sure beats this motor
