Two Knock Sensors, One SAFCII Signal Reciver. does it matter?

does the ECU read the knock sensors independently or not, if so read on.

what have you guys done about monitoring knock with a safc, since there are 2 sensors on the car and one receiver wire on the safc. I dont know a whole lot about electronics but i do know there is stuff out there that isn’t costly that will allow something to have 2 or more wires connected to one wire(for monitoring purposes) without cause the original two to be connected.

something that taps into both knock signal wires for the safc without fusing the 2 signal wires

or does it even matter about fusing the signal wires, i would think that if the computer reads the signals independently, fusing the seniors would cause the ecu to read double the knock.

if connected together cause of the on safc receiver wire:-say if only cly 1 was knocking then the forward and rear sensor will read knock causing the ecu to adjust thinking there is knock in the back and the front of the motor.

so does the ecu see knock from both sensors independently or not?

sorry if long and slightly repetitive-

I will begin by stating the obvious. -> I am by no means an electrician, electrical engineer, or harness guru (Like CarlH!). But I do have a few ideas!

I would think that since we have two knock sensors (cyl 2 + 5) that there is a good reason for it. I would not suggest trying to run your motor on a single knock sensor.

I will look at my harness and get back with you on it.

You may just want to pull your signal from the 'rear' (cyl 5) knock sensor, so you are able to to at least view knock readings.

Someone more knowledgeable please comment / verify / update!

When I had my SAFC I had it hooked up to only 1 sensor. And as far as I know yes there are 2 seperate wires coming from the ECU to read each knock sensor. That being said I dont think there is a way to make the SAFC read both. Nor would I really trust it anyway, I hated the SAFC on my RB when I had it. I would have to take back so much fuel in boost, the ECU would compensate by messing with the timing. So I would just worry about the 1 sensor and leave it at that until you can get some other form of management system.

oh i only have the safc for rpm and monitoring not for fuel correction , dont worry about that. lol
