Holy f*** crap From Dust looks astounding. I LOVED populous when it went to 3d and calling down volcanoes and s*** onto the little villagers...
CityOne barely qualifies as a game at all...

CityOne looks...stupid. It's a marketing scheme, not a game.

From Dust looks really interesting. Too bad I won't be buying any Ubisoft games until they stop being communist f**kwads.

You're really drawing a parallel between multiplayer-centric SCII's ONLINE SERVICES and Ubisoft's online authentication for ALL games? Careful not to strain your brain with that kind of stretching.

It's obvious blizzard grudgingly allowed single-player to be played offline. You are only allowed to play it offline for 30 days until you have to "renew", playing your own custom maps is a hassle, and no LAN support?. It's not as harsh as Ubisoft but the attitude is still there. If blizzard had not allowed offline play would you have purchased SC2? I seriously doubt D3 will support off-line play with the actions Blizz took with SC2.

Yes. Because SCII and even D3 are (will be) highly multiplayer oriented. It's not like Ubi sticking authentication on Assassin's Creed. B.net was a service I ALREADY used a lot with Blizzard games. So I don't have a problem with them trying to streamline the multiplayer experience by integrating it more tightly. I think of it like Steam. Yes, it's DRM. But it also adds a lot of bonuses for me, the consumer. If Blizzard were to make a solely-offline singleplayer game and try to integrate forced B.net logins, I wouldn't be happy. But SC and Diablo are historically multiplayer-focused games anyway. I spent much of my LoD gaming heyday signed into B.net even when playing alone, just to talk with my friends. So I'd still be signing in anyway. And since they DO offer offline mode, if my intertrucks ever take a dump, I'll be fine. Grudgingly offered or not, it's still there.

City one looks like a super realistic version of Sim City.

I like realism. So if Sim City is MS Paint, City One is Photoshop.

Given my semi-recent fascination with "Life After People" and "How the Earth was Formed" on The History Channel and my reading about The Great Dying (and other mass extinction events) Dust looks like it was made just for me.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Since when did IBM grow a pair of nuts and decide they know how to make a video game. City One looks cool, but I bet it comes out a glitchy mess that works better as a marketing ploy for IBM and it's tech than it will as an enjoyable game.

From Dust looks pretty badass, I too miss Populous.

You should look into this as well... I Am Alive.

Just played Cityone....

Ghey.

Giant IBM marketing ploy about all of their infrastructure techs that they've come up with and their consulting expertiese. You don't build anything...it's all premaid and you just have to deal with stuff like "20% of your water is leaking from the pipes...what do you do???" and you get three choices. It's really pretty stupid.

And I'm ranked 4th in the world :-p

That's because you're 1 of 5 who are actually playing it.
