Hello! I am new to this forum as I just bought a beautiful white 2006 M35 with the journey and tech packages. I am puzzled by something. I know I don't have the premium package, but why then would I have 2 DVD players? I know the one in the glove box is for the navigation. However, why would there be one in the center console, when I do not have a video monitor to display it on? Was getting a 2nd DVD player an option (assuming it was meant to play in the nav screen when in park)? Seems a little odd, but was curious.

Welcome to the forum.
Someone may have tried to install it after the fact or something (why you don't have a monitor)...but yes, the cars that came with rear seat entertainment had a DVD player in the center console for movies and the navigation ONLY DVD is in the glovebox.

With the car stopped, push your parking/emergency brake in and select DVD on the center stack. Only then can you watch it. It plays on the multimedia interface in the dash. The under-armrest DVD player can also be used to play audio DVDs if you can find them.
A little silly, since it stops when you start driving but there is a way to bypass this lockout.
So there was never an option to get a DVD player in the glove box UNLESS they had the Premium pakage (or entertainment package)?
One package gave you the DVD player in the center console along with navigation, hence the 8" dash screen.
Another standalone option gave you the center console DVD player and a roof mounted flip down screen; regardless of whether you had navigation or the premium package.

Okay. Thanks for the clarification. I just wonder who would actually sit in the car, watching through the 8" screen in the dash, when you are just sitting in the car, not moving...strange lol. Thanks again!

You're welcome.
It didn't make sense to a lot of us, but I know there's a safety angle to it. Here's the bypass product, there's a HowTo floating around somewhere.
It allows your passengers to watch the screen while driving and also allows the navigation to be manipulated on the fly. It seems to make more sense that way.
