What do you mean it twists? The knob spins?

Yeah i had an aftermarket shift knob and the plastic thing i used to screw it on the shifter got loose and lost it's thread,so the shiftknov spins all the time.I just put my stock shiftknob back in,it's better anyway.

Yeah stock one is the best i've ever used. It's not hard like some of the aftermarket plastic ones, and it seems to last forever, since mine still looks just like new.

Easy solution. Buy a Cusco, OBX, B&M or Nismo short shifter. Then buy a new shift knob from Auto Dynamic. Yes people, it's that easy!

Get a shift knob from the Anniversary edition Maxima. They are sweet. Stock looking, but alluminum center plate instead of all leather. The rest is leather wrapped though, so it looks OEM (cuz it is, just from a different car). It was the coolest non-performance mod I've ever done. Actually, I think that's the only non-performance mod I've ever done.

lol this thread is hilarious ;Dmy thoughts on the issue: my stock shift knob was coming off in little black bits all over my hands as well, same as my steering wheel. so i bought a cheap wheel cover from Elegant USA and that solved that... as for the knob, i unscrewed it (didnt seem that hard, and i'm a weakling...they must have soaked SilvaLuvr's in epoxy or something), then i scraped and cut the black cover off. took a little while, but underneath is a pristine black shift knob complete with gear position diagram indented on the top!however, my knob does twist itself occasionally now. probably nothing a little glue or thread tape couldnt fix, but i'm lazy.

im not too sure but it might be that the threads on the knob and the short throw dont line up exactly....im not too sure though so dont try to kill me if im wrong...

To get the one off of my B14 SE-R....

I had to remove the entire shifter, wrapped the knob in a towel, drove over the knob with a car, and parked the tire right on top of the knob. Then I took a bar and put it through the bolt hole on the bottom of the shifter, and used about 5 feet of leverage to turn it, and it finally cracked loose. I would recommend that for 240SX knobs as well, if you can't get them off, however...since the 240SX is RWD, it does not have the same bolt hole at the bottom of the shifter.

And on my car, it *was* epoxied in there. You could see where I broke all the glue on the threads, taking it out. But, the knob survived, and I continued to use it on my C's shifter :)

On my B15 SE-R....the knob came loose after a week of driving. I had to tighten it down a few more twists :)
