Has anyone done this conversion? I like the idea of a phat T70 under the hood instead of twin turbos. Anyone have tips on this ?

First of all, thanks for breaking in the new forum categories :)

Second of all, I don't think anyone has done this. V-6 engines are EXTREMELY difficult to convert from twin to single turbo. Right now, the turbos are tucked away under the exhaust manifold on each side of the engine, nice and neat. With a single turbo, you have to find a way to reroute all piping to the turbo, decide which side of the car you are gonna put it on, and get the pressure differences all figured out with having a lopsided turbo setup.

Also, on the Z32, there is NOOOOOO room for a single turbo. That engine bay is so packed already, you can barely squeeze upgraded twins in there.

I'm not saying it's impossible, it's just highly impractical.

I've seen it done on Z's. It is a really popular on the Supra's.

The single turbo takes longer to spool up but once it starts moving watch out. Mostly a 1/4 mile mod, you can run more boost but sacrifice driveability.

Like I said, it's possible, not practical. And btw, Supra's are I-6's not V-6's. They are much easier to convert to single turbo since its on the same exhaust manifold and both turbos stock are on the same side of the engine.

Same here. I'm not doubting that it's been done, but I've never seen it nor heard of it.

Um....that first picture is a Z32 Single Turbo because that's a SR20DET in it.

The second one admittingly is a VG30, which I admit looks insanely modified and proves my previous statement wrong. Thanks for the pic!

Hmmm, so it is. Good catch, I am glad someone is paying attention.

The CIMA motor is still not a stock Z32 motor, but it is at least a V6. Plus, the guy is only putting down 500 RWHP with that setup? There is a guy in Columbus, OH, putting out ~ 550 @ 14psi (only 2 more psi) on a Greddy TD-05 setup w/ a lot lower cost than all of that custom piping.
