Yeah, the picture has been around for awhile. I can't remember what show it is from, I think the 2004 tokyo auto salon. It uses an Ogura clutched supercharger.

Seen the picture before.. but it's always interesting to see again.

The thing that gets me is... WHY? I can see twincharging... the SC to get a little more low RPM power, and the turbo to give all the high end power..

But SC with Twin turbo? That's the whole idea of twin turbo.. one turbo to come on lower, and one turbo to come on higher. Otherwise.. just bolt on a bigger turbo..

Or just use nitrous for lower rpm until your GT42 hits...

Kind of like a girl with three boobs. At first you think "wow", then the more you look at it it just seems weird.

that would only seem logical if the supercharger fed into the turbos or vice versa, to get hellacious boost. like 500psi. seems totally pointless to me....but a properly supercharged high rev rb26 would be awsome. lots of low end torque. must be a roots twin screw charger. like that tex modify staega that spun to 11.5k, but sc.

Doesn't this only apply to sequential twin turbos? I thought that an RB26 ran both turbines all the time.

Old 1JZ on the other hand ran the first turbine to a certain point, then kicked the other one in?

You beat me to it.

With non sequential turbo's, the super charger works for low end boost and to help get RPM's up in order to spool the larger twins.

As for the 1J being sequential...I wasn't aware of that. I know the 13b and the 20b Mazda rotaries used sequential's, and they were quite tempramental if I remember correctly.

Also, a small 50 shot to get turbos going is a nice addition also. There was a video a couple years ago of a MKIV supra that monster turbos and a 75 shot that he use out of the gate to get the turbos up to speed. That thing had a wicked launch.

I am pretty sure the 1JZs ran parralel, I know the 2JZs are sequential.

Stealth-Z, thanks for that supercharger link. I had found it a little while back and couldn't find it again.

Now I just need to find someone close to Adelaide Jap Dismantlers that would be willing to pick me up a Toyota SC14

Or does anyone know if I could pick up a Toyota Previa Supercharger from a dealership

The price on Castle Mains kit is about $1950 Australian Dollars. That comes out to less than $1500 USD at the current exchange rate.

i have a question, it looks to me, in the leading picture, that all of the blowers are feeding into a common charge pipe, as though they were the only source (much like twin turbos conventionally are) now, it seems to me that doing so with two turbos that are identical would cause no issue, but a sc has a different efficiency range, and i highly doubt that the sc and the turbos are exactly the same in output throughout the rpm range. that being said, once one reached a "boost plateau" wouldnt one or all of the blowers experience a lot of compressor surge? or even more of an issue, wouldnt putting the sc in such a case be just a redundant parasitic waste? i can hardly see such a gain the way it is put in. of course i could be wrong, but it looks that way. i can see putting the sc and feeding into the turbos or vice versa, but not as a third compressor. i would just put a third turbo. its been done on a supra before. just curious.

i ride in an m3 almost everyday it doesnt sound like that i sometimes cruise with a bmw club and none of thier cars sound like that not even the 375whp 330i one of the guys in the club has. that thing (rb30) sounds like a monster; it sounded angry like it wanted to jump out from under the hood and eat your soul...... the big question here should be what kind of intake manifold was that and where can i buy one? damn lucky aussies..put on some shoes.
