I have a 2010 "S" with the 4 speaker stereo. I'm generally pleased with the speakers but would like a little more top end. I'm thinking about just adding some tweeters. Any suggestions on brands or types and where to place them? Also, not into speaker wiring that much, can I just connect the tweeter leads to the leads already going to the front speakers?

Throw out a budget and you can get a little better feedback

The only issue that might come up adding a pair a tweeters is the change in impedance your radio will see.
If you wire in series you'll have a 6 ohm load, which greatly reduces the power from your radio.
If you wire in parallel [Req = 1/{(1/R1)+(1/R2)] You'll have a 1.33 ohm load which could burn out the amp in your radio.
(these are figuring a stock 2 ohm speaker)

I'd say avoid the drama and buy a component set. A cheap component set can be had for $100 and it can be wired directly to the stock radio.

randy8876, I just realized that I never replied to your answer to my question. Thank you for your information. You probably saved me from blowing my radio. I would have just added the tweeters and been on my way, later wondering why my radio won't turn on. Thanks again and I'll look for a component set. I'm mainly interested in the high end because my hearing in that spectrum has really taken a beating as I get older.
