I have an S model, and I'm looking to add some tweeters... I was thinking that maybe I could get the part (not sure of the exact name) from nissan for the SL that has the spot for the tweeter. Would that be possible in an S? also, to add a tweeter, i just wire it into the corresponding speaker correct?

like if i wanted to do the left tweeter. i would wire the positive to the exisiting left speaker's positive and negative to the exisiting speakers negative... if people are lost, lemme know... and if that doesnt work... where else could i put the tweeters instead of buying that part?

thanks

I would think that would work (as far as the wiring is concerned) but I don't know enough about the differences in the S and SL models to know if you could put the Tweeter there or not. Otherwise (depending on the size of the Tweeter) you could put it under the dash...if there's room to mount it...

my problem is im looking for a minimally invasive way of mounting it, i dont really want to drill any big holes or anything... i mean, i could make a little tiny tweeter box, i guess same concept as a sub box... and just set that somewhere, but i dunno where it would look right =[

Look at Crutchfield's site. You can get a set of Blaupunkt or Infinity component speakers to replace the front speakers. The tweeters are so small and easy to mount that you won't have any trouble finding a place to put them.I did it in my last car and it made a world of difference.

I do believe the posts there are the same size for the S and the SL so it should just be a matter of replacing the plastic post piece and possibly drilling a small area to seat the tweeter... IF your dealer is willing to work with you (like, you have a reasonable service guy) they should be able to answer this question for you and help you with the install.

the problem with that is i dont wanna spend an exorbitant amount of money. lol i just want a set of tweeters... im perfectly happy with the 4 speakers i have. i just wanna add a bit, not replace them... if you know what i mean, and yeah im goin to have to go up to the dealer and talk to them

if you go for Alpine Type S 6.5" coaxials, you'll get along damn well...

OR...

just get the panels for the SL!

With all the recently-totaled V's... maybe you could find the panels cheap...

I can promise you that if you buy factory tweeters and the plastic surrounds, you're going to pay a lot more than the $80 a set of blau's or infinities are going to cost. You can get them even cheaper on ebay if you're patient.

Wiring the tweeter to the speaker is ok if u want "ok" sound, for the best sound, get crossovers, it connects from the stereo or amp, to the crossover, then the low output goes to the speaker, and the high goes to the tweeter

Looking to add more? Just do the entire system. Adding tweeters, especially without crossovers, won't make much of a difference at all.

i actually checked on those A-pillars with the tweeters, and they run about $75-$80 a pop. i'd personally just go with some quality components.

Agreed. You could buy a good pair of component sets for about fifty bucks, and it'll sound better than just adding tweeters.
