As the title says, been trying to figure out where i should mount my tweeters. Im not that big into the audio thing, but my current speakers are SHOT and i had a set of speakers/tweeters from my old car. They are 1" infinity tweeters. Anyone have any recomendation on where to put them. I really dont wanna have them on the A pillar. Just need something that looks clean. My S13 does not have a factor tweeter location.

Well, I'm working on finding a spot in my S14. I know SE models came with tweeters in the A pillar, so I'm looking for a set. If any S13s came with tweeters, try to find the part and use that.

Hope that helps...

http://www.elitecaraudio.com/s...pic=1See the two articles entitled "Physical and Acoustic Problems Affecting Sound Quality in a Car" and the one about kick panels. If you are going to fab something, you might as well do it right and make some kick panels. Tweets should be as close as possible, generally speaking, to the midrange drivers so that all the sound waves reach you at the same time. This is also the thinking behind kick panels...minimizing the distance between left and right. I haven't done it myself (yet...maybe after the engine rebuild I'll get to the interior), but there are sites that will help with fiberglassing technique. Of course, with the limited space in an s13 this may be difficult. You may need to relocate the ecu and/or fuse box... I don't know, I haven't made measurements yet and I haven't driven my 240 in a while. It may be too much trouble, but it's just a suggestion.

You could cut out a place in the door. Or on the dash.

In a s13, you can mount the tweets in the door without cutting. In front of the door switch panel in the arm rest, the mold makes a turn upward. you can drill a small hole for the wires, and use a surface mount bracket for your tweets. This is what I did. The tweets are then pointed straight at you head. It will fit behind the grab handle on the passenger side, too.

Your tweeters should have an adaptor that allows them to swivel/pivot... if so you a lot better options for mounting. I put mine in the door, see the pic(for an S13 though). The only problem is when it rains if the window is cracked it's right in the way for dripping, so watch out for that. Sounds great though.

Question: What speaker(s)/driver is going to be covering the rest of the frequency range, and how are you going to crossover between the two?

As for a recommendation. I personally like tweeters/small speakers mounted in the dash fasing up towards the glass. This puts the distance from the speaker to the glass to your ears at about the same distance as the speaker in the door to your ear
