After installing my Megan racing coilovers, I started noticing a clunking or twanging sound from my front end every once in a while, like when I went from reverse to forward, etc. I assumed it was Tension rods, so I replaced them with an adjustable set from PowerTrix racing with bearings, making sure they were leaning in the right direction as per the insturctions. I also replaced my front ball joints while I was there since they looked really bad.

Now I have a twanging noise in the front end almost every time I come to a normal stop, and sometimes when I go over largeish bumps.

I was told it could be Tie rods and ends, so I ordered a set from SPL but they're on backorder and I probably won't see them for at least another 2 weeks.

Is there ANYTHING else in the front end that could be causing this? The noise is actually more noticible now that I replaced the ball joints and Tension rods, and occurs more frequently.

Tracked it down today when I went to retorque the nuts on the tension rods. Apparently I managed to strip the treads on one stud on the passenger side when I installed them.

Good news is I now know what the problem is, bad news is the nut won't come off, it just turns in place. Hopefully I can jack the car up and apply some tension to the rod so the nut will be forced to come off, and with any luck I'll be able to find a replacement stud locally.

If not, does anyone see a problem with pressing out the old stud and replacing it with a grade 8 nut and bolt?
