2) Paint Wheels:
Tools: jack and kit (from inside the V)jack stands (two if you want to do the wheels in pairs, four if you want to do all at the same time)sand paper (I used 320 grit)1-4 cans wheel color (1 if you want to paint the wheels like mine, more if you're painting the entire wheel. I imagine this may take 2 or 3 cans, but I've read people using 4)1 can wheel clearpainter's tapenewspaper
Method:loosen lug nuts on wheeljack up that corner of carplace jack stand, repeat for all the jack stands being used ;oD
remove lugs and wheel(s)I removed the Nissan inserttape off ring around wheel if a chrome/silver ring is desired, otherwise skip this step (this is also the time to tape off the back of the wheel if you're only painting one side like I did)sand the wheel until it is dull (you may want to rinse/wash it first depending on how dirty it is)wash the wheel really well, removing all dustlet wheel completely drytape off tire, use newsprint to cover tirethe directions on the can should instruct to spray 2 light coats of color, then one medium - do this, then spray the clear the same - all paint should be laid down within an hourlet sit for 3 hours to set, then the wheels can be movedI recommend letting wheels sit overnight before driving on them
repeat for the last two if necessary.
3) Paint Engine Cover
tools:Krylon fusion paint (for use as a primer even if you're painting another color)other paint color if desiredclear coat (preferably the wheel clear - it's the toughest)10mm socket wrench
method:remove the two bolts on the toptake apart the washer assembly that goes through the bolt holescarefully remove the foam padding from the back - it does come off easily, like holes around buttons, but you've got to be careful with it (I have an extra if anybody screws this up)carefully bend the posts on the Nissan emblem straight (you'll know what I mean when you see it) then slide it out of the holeswash cover off well with a de-greaser (dish soap was all that was necessary with mine) no sanding necessaryspray with the krylon, 2 light coats, then medium coats to get full coveragespray with the other color if desiredspray with the clearlet dry (no heat treating necessary)then put everything back!
