I finally tried to start up the CA tonight after the rebuild. I got spark and the injectors are getting 12v, but its just turning over. Im sure its something Im not even paying attention too. Im working on about 4 hours of sleep so Ill just mess with it tommorow. I was just letting you all know it will be back on the streets here soon. If someone could shed some light on stuff to check for and keep in mind it would be great. Like I said, its been almost 6 months since Ive really messed with it.

thanks guys

check the timing belt..........I had over tensioned mine, and it ended up working it's way off of the cam pulleys.....it would turn over, but wouldn't fire. I thought it was my wiring for several weeks....until I finally decided to take the top timing cover off, and discovered the belt had moved off

woot for the "tri-state area"!! just take a moment to pat yourself on the back. we own.

i second the grounds thing. mine would turn over but it wouldnt start. i added 4 large ground straps and it fired right up. also, you mentioned the injectors are getting 12v, but how about fuel? are the plugs soaked?

Yea i know.. but I finally got it to start for a little bit.. But one quick question, there isnt any oil coming from my oil feed line.. how much cranking or starting does the oil pump need to make it through the line.. Im just getting kinda worried about it.

my oil pump is a little tired and it never takes more than a few seconds. try blowing it out with some compressed air, something may be clogging it up.

Haha.........just moved here from Cali, so I'm still in culture shock Where did you add the 4 ground straps? Did you "daisy chain" them, or are they grounded independently?

i would be a little worried if nothing is coming out of the 90 degree elbow. see if you cant pull it off and check it too, otherwise a new oil pump may be in your future.

as for the ground straps, ive got one from the battery to the fender, 2 from the intake mani. to the body, and one from the head (where lift point bracket used to be) to the body. they are the huge 2ga. 18in battery ground straps. and dont worry, people here are generally nice. some sketchballs in birmingham though, im a fan of huntsville. we have better driving roads too. oh, and no terrible rush hour traffic.
