The turn signal on my '72 240 seems to only wanna work when it wants. The blinker is slow and sometimes I can hear the relay but the turn signals won't light up. Sometimes it just won't do anything. Has anyone had this problem before? Where is the relay? Behind the dash? or might I need a new turn signal switch? Thanks.

I believe the relay si in the same area but on the older Z's the switch is an issue, they actually switch the hot side which causes a current drop and they tend to wear out after 30-40 years might want to try locatiiong a good used switch stalk

you can also use a good pencil eraser. it cleans contacts pretty well and is less harsh than even fine sandpaper. Phar

Yeah, I took it apart and cleaned the contacts and replaced the tiny little spring that holds a ball bearing and it works good now. The most difficult part was finding a spring, luckily a friend had a box full of springs that he said he brought from Harbor Frieght. Thanks.
