Turn signal stalk replacement?

The writing on my 2001 I30's turn signal stalk (the picture of the bulb and the on/off/auto writing) is starting to wear off. It looks ugly, so I was wondering if it is possible to replace just the cap on the turn signal stalk (the thing that actually turns). Or if I would have to have the whole thing replaced, is that just asking for rattles to occur afterward since it looks like you have to take off the steering column cover to replace it?
