Hello all, new to this site. I have a 1980 Datsun 720 I picked up for $500 and am working on restoring. I put a new weber carb on and i cant figure out where the vac line from the distributor advance is supposed to go on it. any help there would be appreciated, I have the truck running smooth other than idle problems when engine is cold. That line should fix that. Also I just put in some brand new turn signals I ordered, there were none there when i got it. I also got the new light switch assembly, since it was broken. I got all of the lights working except the backup lights are not coming on, and the turn signals are not working at all. Like I said, brand new lights and switch, checked all the fuses in the block in front of drivers door, and replaced the flashers. Also pulled apart the hazard light switch and cleaned out all the corrosion. Any Ideas on what to check next would be very helpful. As soon as I have time I will take some pics and post a thread of all the work I have done so far. Unfortunately I didn't take "before pics, but I will do my best to describe what It was like in the post.

As far as the carb, there should be a spot on the baseplate for a vacuum line. As far as the lighting problem, the only thing I can think of is a short somewhere in the wiring harness. That would suck pretty bad though.

Welcome to NICO, hope you find everything you may need!

Yea, I am really not looking forward to tracing the wires for this through the harness, but it looks like I will probably have too. :ohno: It wouldn't be quite as bad if I had a wiring diagram but the repair manual I have is a Chilton and there are none in there that I can find.

Do the hazard lights work? I had almost the same problem, hazards would work but the turn signals would not after the hazards had been on. I had to jiggle the hazard switch to get the turn signals to work.

No, I am not getting any light at the turn signal lamps at all, either from turn signals or hazard lights. I checked voltage on the hazard light switch and there is only one hot wire. which means voltage is going in, but not coming out? I think I might pull it apart again to see if If I can get continuity through it. I am hoping that it is the problem, much easier than the wiring harness.

Okay, an update. Figured out that the new switch I got is configured differently so I clipped off the connector, put on female slide connectors and put the wires were they need to go manually. I now have hazard flashers on both sides and left turn signals. The right turn signals still are not coming on with the switch. I'm thinking relay? If anyone could tell me where to look for the relay that controls that it would help.

Both sides go through the flasher relay. Disconnect power and see if you have continuity to ground on the circuit with the bulb removed.
