Whats up guys. Well i have an 85 720 and my rear LEFT turn signal/brake light doesnt work. My parking lights work and the RIGHT ones work all around.
1. The fronts work just fine
2. Changed bulb... even though it was fine
3. Fuses are fine....
what could be the problem? I checked the wires to where the connector for the bulb is an it has cuts on the outer barrier and you can see the metal wire, but its nothing big nor does it look like they are touching anything or making contact.
Any help is appreciated :bigthumb:

could be a few things bad ground, bad wire, I'll look it up in the schems and give you a plan of attack after class

ok from what it looks like if the whole assy is not turning on / working it'll mostlikely be the blue wire either forward of the connector or behind it. Its the common wire (ground) for all of those lights on that side. anything wrong with that wire and the whole shebang goes out. you could easily test it by running a splice down to the chassis or a screw that contacts good metal and see if the lights come on. I would chose my test point somewhere past the connector on the light side so you could ensure it is the ground (could be a bad pin in the connector). try that let me know if that fixed it.

oh in that case Green with red stripe in the connector is the hot for the turn signal and yellow and red is the hot for the brake light (when brakes are pushed). since the other side is working that rules out relays/switches/signal units. It has to be those wires that are bad.

nah not really just gotta find the bad spot in the wire. cut it out and resplice use a butt end connector (terminal) and a set of crimpers. the wire probably failed in an area of vibration or other mechanical stress. it could be bad at the connector (the pins aren't mating. or you also mentioned cuts in the insulation of a couple of wires if its contacting the frame then its grounding out. or the conductor itself could be cut through and not making a good connection. me i'd take a voltmeter turn on the turn signal and back trace from the light till I found the intermittent voltage (probably right there at the connector but maybe further back) one lead (red) touches the wire I mentioned the other goes to a good ground or the common wire I mentioned. once you find the voltage you know where to start your new wire.

It usually severs where the chassis goes over the diff. Check there first. You'll have to unwrap the tape from over the harness.
