I have a 2007 M35x and can't seem to find this in the manual. I know it is somehow possible because I've done it by accident twice. When the engine is running, how can I turn the engine off but leave the accessories on (ie. listen to the radio)?

Thanks...Mark

Don't put in park and then turn off the engine. The car will stay in acc.

Not always the greatest thing to turn the car off in drive...

Just hit the start/stop button 2 times quickly - one to turn off, the other to put in acc.

Leave the car in neutral and shut the car off. All your accesories will still stay on.

Thats how I do it.

I shift into neutral, then hit the ignition button, then I shift into park. The cool thing is that at this point, if you put your foot on the brake and press the ignition button once, the car starts again.

Theres an annoying stop light near my house that always seems to change when I approach. Its a sold five minute wait. I always do the above when I hit that light.

Thanks All!

I don't recall the car not being in Park, but I'll be sure to check that next time.

Hit the start button twice within 2 seconds, even when in Park, it will shut off the engine and keep the ACC ON.

Damnit! I posted this same question 2 months ago and was told it couldn't be done.

Drives me nuts when I'm on the phone and have to switch back and forth between bluetooth and headset when I parks somewhere.

Great info here guys The biggest thing is do not put your foot on the brake when pushing the Start button.

Leaving the car in gear and hitting the Start button will indeed go from RUN to ON. That seems to be the only way I can think of to stop the engine and continue to use the battery, without dropping a call. Be careful though the car is very current hungry in this mode.
