I want to know what turbos full specs please people are using and what boost and what rpm you get boost and what rpm you get full boost. Also hp or dynos if known and also your opinion of your turbo likes and dislikes. Also please list what your goals for the car are. I am going to use this information to build a database of turbo options for the CA and list the personal experiance with them. I think that if we get a lot of good info this could be used as a sticky for people who want to start upgrading.

Thanks

Well, currently I am running a Custom T28, It was T25 and I got it machined and fitted with T28 highflow compressor. It got a bit of lag, I hated it at the begining as the T25 you don't feel the lag in it. full bo0st I get it around 3K rpm. I am running approx 300hp crank. As soon as it hits 3k rpm, I get all the hp until 7K rpm as I don't want to push it passed that, but pulls through all five gears with some serious power.I like the power band on it , dislikes, I wish it didn't get the lag, but I am working on something to go with bigger turbo and illuminate the lag.I am planning on Getting a T04 turbo and with that, the lag will be a killer, so, I am planning on getting a supercharger to illiminate the lag at the lower rpm, some people will find that strange and might disagree with me, but so far I haven't found any negatives but all the positives to illiminate the lag.

So, If any one knows where to get cheap or decent superchargers please let me know. I looked on ebay but most of them got the 3.8 GM supercharger and that thing is physically big for my application, I would like some with the size of a big alternator, so if any one knows where to get such thing, please post it.

Rafi, get one off of a supercharged MR2, the first gen's. Fits your description perfectly. If you were willing to ditch the A/C, it would be a breeze to fab up a bracket and mount it where the stock A/C pump goes. Plus, with any luck you could use the stock crank pully. PLUS it uses a clutch setup like the stock A/C unit, so you could simply set up a pressure switch that is normally closed, and opens up when you get onto boost. You might have to fool with your idle a bit to run it, but that's nothing major. I've thought about this too, and if you have any more questions, let me know. I just didn't have the time/money to fab up anything to try it out.

Hi Ryan,

I thought about the Mr2 supercharger, but for the horse power that I want, It is a bit small for it.I like the I idea that it has a clutch on it, to turn it on and off, thats awesome, but when I turn it off, I think it will restrict the amount of air flowing through it to supply the engine when the Turbo spools up and demands more air due to the small size of the supercharger and its turbine.

I don't have an A/C on my car, that is access weight in my opinion, but thats where I am thinking of bolting on the supercharger.

More ideas will appreciated on where to find superchargers.

Thank you,

Rafi

It would only be a restriction if you run them in series. If you ran them in parallel, then it wouldn't be a problem. The only thing is that you'd have to use a a check valve of somesort to prevent the air from back flowing through the s/c when it was off.

Ya, it makes more sense to run it in Parrallel, but figuring out how to bypass the air from the s/c is the tricky part at a certain rpm, need to find out a valve that opens up very fast without effecting the performance of the engine.

Thanks,

T3/T04E 50 Trim w/ .63 Turbine Stage 3.

Full boost by ~4500 RPM - it rocks.

run 'em in series. you have the turbo feeding the super so the supercharger is essentially doing less work and not heating the air up as much. as the turbo begins to build you have a pressure differential valve that smoothly redirects air from the supercharger straight to the intake mani until at a certain point you just have the supercharger shutoff and completely by-passed. or at least something to this effect. Nissan makes a small car with pretty much this exact setup. i just wish i could get ahold of it stateside so i can take the system apart and see it for myself.

God yes, one of the reasons GT2 > GT3

The Nissan March Super Turbo!!!! maxed out it only had like 150 or 160hp or something but that thing was fast for its size (its one of those uber small cars)

It had a power bulge IIRC. I loved it!

T28 is about as little lag as you can get. GTiR t28, .5 bar around 16 mph in 1st. 0.86 turbine, 0.6 compressor, t3 compressor cover, journal bearings.

Garrett/AiResearch TB03 60 trim, .63a/r hotside. Theoretically, it should provide 15psi by around ~35-3600. Real-world results will have to wait
