For those of you who are running water cooling lines to your turbo. What lines are you using and from where to where are you running the lines? Hope this makes sense.

I assume you're asking about aftermarket braided lines.

Taka and Circuit Sports are the two most popular. You can find them at just about any one of our sponsored vendors.

Personally speaking, unless you're running a top mount solution, the steel lines are better as they're less prone to leaking. You will need to add an oil line/restrictor for a ball bearing turbo, though.

I know this has been covered a few times but then would you recommend just running oil through without the water.

I prefer water cooled turbos. It helps cut down on the amount of coking that can happen. Whether it be in the turbo, the lines, or even the motor.

If you want to see something nasty, you should see what a non water cooled turbo can do to the oil of a motor. Especially if the user doesn't do regular, consistant oil changes every 2000-3000 miles.

The oil restrictor is there to impeded the flow on ball bearing turbos. For the ball bearing center housings, too much oil flow will result in the oil pooling inside the housing and blowing the seals out. This is due to the design of the ball bearing insert. On a bushed turbo, the oil flow will fall right through the shaft and bushings, so a restrictor isn't necessary.

So that's something a turbo timer would help out a lot if I decide not to run the water lines. Oil coking doesn't occur while the engine is running with oil consistently flowing right?
