All motor is the only way to make real power!

Just kidding with you.

It really depends on how much money you want to throw at it. You could get away with basic intake, header, and exhaust for a fairly small amount of money. You will gain some power, but it won't be anything to write home about.

If you don't have another car, and want to turbocharge your car cheaply.....Don't. Without backup transportation you should stay N/A unless you're buying a bolt on turbo kit, or you really know what you're doing. If you doubt yourself, then you shouldn't do it.

I'm about to build a turbo kit for my car, and it's going to be about $2500. However, that is doing all the labor myself. Including all the welding. I think that's about as cheap as it can be done. I've also been doing reasearch for a long time, and am very confident in my abilities. Also, I have a backup car for if something does go wrong. If you want to learn about turbo systems, go buy Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. It is like the bible of turbocharging. Definately a must read for anyone designing their own system.

Don't know if anyone else would agree with me, but that's my opinion.

If you keep the boost down to a low roar, say 6 psi you'll be fine. The car will run forever and it doesn't cost that much for a kit like that. If you want to run say 10 psi you'll a better engine management system and a nice FMIC to stay safe. The key is fuel my friend.

But there isn't such a thing as a powerful NA 4 banger IMHO.

Oh and Corky does know what he's talking about. Its worth the read.

a real all motor build up is anything but cheap. it seems most import enthusiasts limit all motor build ups to bolt ons and a remapped ecu. in the end, you would make more power with less money by going turbo.

Try out a Ca18det... very good motor and the cheapest bang for you buck over the KA24E.

Consider your goals first. If you want a lot of power for cheap(Relative), forced induction is the way to go. An all motor build up to make a lot of power will be very expensive. From my experience, decide what you want to do and do it. Don't buy all kinds of stuff you will end up replacing later. Like if you plan to turbo, don't get an intake and headers. You may even want to hold off on an exhaust since you will want a larger one. Turbo exhausts tend to be very loud on NA cars. If you refrain from parts that won't be used when you turbo, you will end up saving a lot more money and in the end, you'll find a turbo isn't as expensive as you think. Also, save money and be patient. You'll find deals everytwhere. I bought my used XS kit for $1800.

ive been told that unless your engine is in absolutely perfect condition, it will destroy it. not really worth the risk for like 65-75hp

No matter which way you go, turbo or n/a, its going to be relitively expensive if you want to make a lot of power. If you turbocharge the ka you have to get some type of programmable ecu to make it run reliably, plus bigger injectors. Check out these sites.
