I'm planning low boost on my CA18 when that time comes around (****, I don't even have the engine and I'm already looking at major upgrades) but I don't need THAT much more. Essentially I want the equivelant of a S15 T28 to a S13 T25.

Is there a bolt on turbo for the CA18 that is a bit larger, like near 20psi max boost.

OR...is it in my best interest to get an aftermarket manifold and just get a S15 T28?

hmmm...kinda answered my own question as I was typing this, but I'll still post it, it helps my post count, and maybe it'll get me some opinions :D

maybe a gt2530- standard t28, or possibly a t3o4, but that will require a custom manifold and may take a while to spool but should be ok for mid and top end numbers.

I'm trying to build a dori/touge/auto-X car so lag needs to be at a minimum,

also, I was trying to go reletively cheap, but I'm open to buying a reletively nice turbo manifold, which takes me to my next qeustion:

what turbo manifold woul give a good amount of performance and lifeline, yet still be reletively cheap, or cheaper. I mostly just don't want it to crack, and I need it to be a bottom mount, be able to use the OE O2 pipe, AND I'd like it to be have equal length runners.

geez, I'm so picky aren't I? :D

I didnt think the T28bb needed a new manifold...its still a T2small flange. I know the GT2540 that is supposedly on the way here for me bolts into the stock location and it's not terribly small ya know. Why not just go with a T28bb from an S15? You should pull easy 250hp with minimal lag.

I thought the flanges were different, if they're the same, then $hit, I'll use the S15 T28 with no manifold. what will 20psi get me, 250hp? will then be pushing the stock fuel system? I'm just gonna max things out and upgrade some cooling parts, though my engine and boost management is a little more high-end, HKS Super AFC and EVC 5th gen.

thanks guys,

I dunno how much you can push the S15 turbo...but if you COULD push it to 20psi I would guess that you'd get 270-280hp out of it...I think 20psi would be pushing it's efficiency range but I dont have a compressor map available for it to tell...anyone else know? TMS? Hey Jon...you talkin to me about aim?

Edit: you'll max out the stock fuel system way before that...at like 13psi it'll be maxing the injectors...you'll have to run larger injectors (550cc should be fine) and have at least a piggyback to control them.

I don't mind doing injectors, and the Super AFC should be up for the job as far as tuning that, if not, I'll learn how to do EPROM tuning,

250-270 is PLENTY for me, that'll be quite sufficient, well...till the rest of my car is done, then I'll get a little crazy, to the tune of a Tomei CA18 longblock Phase4, I think that sounds fun :D

dude, one of my friends with a T28 bb turbo from an S15 pushed 243 whp / 223 wtq on 9 psi (3rd gear pull might affect the #'s though). He had ca16 camshafts, 3 inch piping all the way to the exhaust, z32 fuel pump, safc, 370cc stock injectors and some other supplimentary mods. One thing that i noticed as being weird is that it spooled up quite late. Late as in almost 4000 rpm, which was pretty very strange (aren't BB turbos suppose to spool up quicker than thrust bearings?) It pulled all the way to 7800 rpm (no aftermarket valvesprings or anything of the sort) It was a nice turbo, and suited the ca18det quite nicely. I'll try to get dyno graphs up for you guys. It had a smooth progression of power all the way up to the redline, and the AF ratio was a steady 12:1. This thing was tuned with only an AFC, so it's possible to get good numbers outta the ca18det with this turbo. Make sure you get injectors if you wanna boost higher. Good luck, and if you need help with installing the t28 turbo, i remember a site that goes over the ca18det T25/T28 swap VERY thoroughly.

I got a T3 turbo off a Peugeot 505 today. I don't know if it's at all useable...but it was only $50, so I got it anyways. At worst, I'll learn something about turbo internals, and that's worth the money. It's in pretty decent shape, seems to spin ok with no play. The compressor side has ".42" stamped on it, and the turbine side has ".36" stamped in it. It has a 4 bolt rectangle pattern where it would bolt to the manifold, and a 3 bolt triangle pattern where the downpipe bolts up. Is this too small to be useable? Is any part of it useable?

hey dan240: that website would be nice, thanks, any info is good info, as long as it's correct, I'm a info whore, I try to learn as much as I can,

as far as that peugeot turbo, I think that a) teh T3 flange won't work, you need a T2 flange, and the wheels are smaller than stock, one of them atleast,
