Ok so im driving today and white smoke starts coming out and there is a bumble bee whining noise coming from the motor bay. I get out play around, take some stuff apart. Well my stock t25 pooped out on me. I was getting ready to buy tein flex coilovers but have decided since these recent events that a turbo upgrade would be better off here. I have a policy that if something goes out and there is a better, performance replacement for it then thats what i do. Now i have been looking around for a while and have a couple questions about different turbo upgrades. Now i have stock injectors and a walboro, but im not worried about cranking up the boost for a while so those will do. I would like to get near the 400hp mark and was wondering if the T3/T4 would get me there with other mods to the fuel system. Also when i was looking on ebay for T3/T4 turbos there were several on there. Stage III, Stage IV etc. Are all the t3/t4 flanges the same, so if it says in the description for a honda, would it still fit the sr with t3 flanges? Also is the stage IV better? If the t3/t4 falls short of the 400hp mark what would be the cheapest alternative to get to that mark??? Also can somebody give me a decent explanation of what the a/r trim and exhaust trims are, and how a bigger/smaller number affects things!

Thanks

Here are the links to some that i found on there

Also. I know this is top mount so what other items will i need, such as exhaust side and wastegate etc... to get this in there the right way.

Hehem. I love answering this question.

For a t3/t04 you need:

-t3 flanged exhaust manifold (stock flange is different)-external wastegate-custom downpipe and wastegate pipe. This will be very difficult if you want the wastgate gas to merge back with the rest of the exhaust-oil lines-inlet and outlet pipes, silicone couplers and non-crappy clamps-flange for downpipe, flange for wastegate-gaskets

Stock injectors and increasing the boost on a big turbo, are you mad? And since you won't be using stock injectors and raising the boost, you'll either not be making any more power than you could make with a t25, or you'll need new bigger injectors, z32 maf or alternative, a boost controller, and something to make the injectors and maf work.

Consider a bolt on turbo like a t28 or 2871r, 550's, z32 maf and a rom tune. Even if you bought it new it could cost you less than what the flex coilovers would have cost you.

I meant that I would be running new injectors etc in the near future but wouldnt be cranking the turbo up till then. My main question was will a t3/t4 produce, or is it capable of putting down 400hp?

Ok, so what would you suggest.. Upgrading the stock mani to a tubular, upgrading the stock turbo to what? External wastegate??? Keep in mind I am looking for 400+hp after upgrading fuel and mafs

Also, i was getting the flex second hand and was only gonna spend like 1200 total. I need the car up and running sooner than later, as i need it for work. If the t3 is to crappy then maybe something like this setup here with a better than stock turbo.

Any turbos in mind that i could pick up for a not so bad price, that will fit the stock flanges and produce a good amount of HP down the line when i get the fuel system to spec?

$1200 definitely would be a stretch especially for a fast turnaround. Screw that manifold, it's not necessary. 400+ hp...3071rf bolts to stock flange, and I assume it fits fine otherwise since it's physically smaller than a gt25r which also fits. That would be a good choice. I guess it comes in a .64 or .86. You might as well get the .86 if you want lots of power. For good measure, a megan racing greddy style o2 pipe would be nice. I have one and it's perfect.

Like I said, even if that manifold opens up 10 hp on its own, it's another expense and another sub-oem-quality part on your car that supports your turbo. Also consider a second hand gt25r that you may be able to get for well under 1k. The .86 would definitely get you to your goal.

So how much HP could i squeeze out of the gt25r?
