I need help fast i have to order parts today if i want to get them tomorrow so i can do this job this weeekend. The 4 studs that bolt the turbo to the manifold i need them. The kicker is i have a A/M SS Manifold but i would assume they are the same size as the stock studs right? What year/make/model of car can i get the studs from?

Thanks in advance!

Go to Ace Hardware, or True Value Hardware Store. They both have a good selection of automotive metric studs, and for cheap. I believe the size of those studs are 8x1.25mm

Thanks for the sizing, ill have to shop around different hardware store as we don't have either of those stores in Calgary.

Edit: I did find a place here in town to get ne SR studs so i will try those first and then use threaded rod as a back up if they don't work.

Your local Nissan parts counter should stock them too

Yes they could get me the SR studs but they are more then 2 days away and i only have this weekend to do the work so.

Lastly, can I use high temp thread lock on manifold studs? Long story short the 2 missing studs rattled out and i never used any thread lock before. So i want to make sure this does not happen again.

My experience with hight temp thread locker is that it melts out when used on the turbo studs, pretty quick too. You need to find some "all metal" locking nuts. I've used the same ones for 5-6 years now, and they haven't backed off yet....reusable too. http://www.unbrako.com/flexloc_nuts.htm

Hmm ill phone around to a few commmercial/industrial hardware suppliers to see if they have something similar. I also called nissan they do stock the factory locking tabs so i will grab those tonight just in case i cannot find anything else.

My only issue with the factory tabs is they never worked last time so i have little faith in them now.

RS thanks for all you help and quick replies!

No probs........anytimeI never had any luck with the Nissan lock tabs on my old ca18et either. They were loose when I first got my s12 back in '88 when it was bone stock and only had 60k miles on it

Ok i managed to get something similar to the product linked above so i am excited to see how they work now and i am just happy that i don't have to rely on those tabs.

But can anyone give me some tips on how to securely fasten the exhaust studs in to the manifold? All i did last time was double nut the one end of the stud and wrench it in to the manifold till it was tight. But it seemed that never worked last time so does anyone else have any ideas. Thanks
