hey gusy hwtas up, im getting my 1991 300zx TT this sunday so i want to get a turbo timer for it. Now i know its not needed, but i just dont want to risk anything and 150$ is a small price to pay for the life of my turbos. Now my 300 is a auto. im not sure if this matters but i heard that the automatics dont need a turbo timer but im not sure. Can you guys tell me if i need one or not and will a HKS turbo timer be fine for daily driving and maybe some fun?

doesnt matter if it is an auto or manaul. the timer just keeps the car on for x amount of time after you take your keys out. this keep the oil circulating while the turbos wind down and avoids oil coking up the turbos and shortening their overall life. you don't really need one... if you are boosting a lot and then stop, just let it idle for a minute before shutting it off, its the same thing. if you do get one, make sure it has the wiring harness, so it is plug and play. if not, you have to splice into some important wiring and can F- things up. to answer your question if it will be good for maybe some fun. not sure here.

for me, id me more concerned with getting the cars maintenance up to speed quickly rather than installing a turbo timer.
