I have a greddy turbo timer and turbo harnesses are not expensive........

however I havent the slightest how they actually function? Do they splice into the wiring harness some how? i heard something of splicing into the steering column?

do the harnesses make it uber easy or should I just do it myself?

Do I need a CA specific harness or any 240sx model will do. do other nissan platforms use the same harness as some of the local shops have 300zx and 350z harnesses in shop.

It's a jumper harness, no cutting required. Pull the cover off the bottom of the steering column and pull the gangplug on the back of your ignition cylinder; it goes there.

that is fantastic news. is the 240sx unit the same as all nissan units or do I have to have the 240 one?

I know my friend who owns a shop has a N/FT-1 for nissan and a 84-89 300zx harness laying around. are they the same units?

EDIT: Just contacted FR motorsports and ordered the right one.

when I set it....... what is the ideal idle time or do I get extra features when I do the harness and it can read my engine temp?

Quote »Auto Timer Mode automatically calculates a suggested count down timefor your vehicle, according to your car’s RPM. You may also choose 2 count down time offset ratios "Hi" or "Lo". This will add a preset time to your calculated count down time.On some vehicles, there is a possibility that the Auto Mode will not function properly due to difference in usable rpm range. The Turbo Timer begins calculating, when your RPM reaches approximately 3000 RPM for "LO" mode and 2000 RPM for "HI" mode. A minimum value can be set from 0 sec. to 1 min 30 sec. by increments of 10 sec. The factory setting is 0 sec.[/quote]from the greddy manual.

Just so you know, even with the harness, you still have to do some wiring.

There's 2 more wires you HAVE to wire up, and 1 optional.

The first one is the ground wire(no ground...no worky), the second is the parking brake safety. If this wire isn't connected to your parking brake light, then the unit will not function.

It's a safety feature, so that if the turbo timer is in use, and the parking brake is released, it will shut off, and the engine will shut off as well.

The last is the optional speed sensor wire. This is so you can use automatic mode.

Here's the greddy manual, it can do lots more.

I personally never let mine idle for less than 2min. I came up with that number because it was enough time for the car to warm up enough to turn the fans on, and then turn them back off.

The IDEAL way would be to monitor your oil temps and base it off of that.

finished install works amazing with the harness. I had to make a 4-3 adapter to use the HKS harness and the greddy turbo timer.

Why did you use a HKS harness with a Greddt TT? If you already had the TT for cheap, you could have gotten the harness for no more than 15 bucks at a varitey of places/websites. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to be a prick, just asking.

I feel you on that one. I have been slooooooowly purchasing parts, so that I don't get something that I will have to finesse into operation. Good luck with all of your upgrades/projects.

Do you have a water cooled turbo? If so, no need for a turbo timer.
