They all pretty much do the same thing, so why is the decision so hard. Pick one that will look good with the rest of the interior of your car. Apexi is my pick. HKS, Greddy, Blitz all make turbo timers.

it luminates a blue color.

the only thing i hate about it is it's super bright

Mind if I ask why you "need" one? Do you redline the gears everytime you go to the supermarket? Turbo timers are just a fancy way to let your car run for a couple of minutes to keep the turbo from caking. If you're not constantly romping on your car everytime you drive there is no need for one.

I purchased the Top Fuel Turbo Timer from Phase2Motortrend.

Has all of the features of the standard turbo timer (auto/manual mode), displays voltage, and displays a theoretical AFR using the 0-1v output from the stock narrow band O2 sensor.

I really like how its a slim, compact design that has allowed me to place virtually anywhere without disturbing the visibility of "idiot" lights or speedometer.

you can do the same thing by just letting your car idle for like 30 seconds right?

Of course. But some of us are too lazy for that, especially if you're not running A/C. It also is good for people that sometimes forget to let their car run after driving [hard].

Plus, turbo timers are neat and I like wiring in electronic goodies

The only thing that sucks with a turbo timer is if you have keyless entry you cannot lock your doors. While the car is running the cars system will not allow the keyless remote to activate the door locks. If you lock it manually, the system will kick the doors to unlocked after the car shuts down. Now if you don't have keyless entry or power locks then you have nothing to worry about.

also, doesn't it mean you can't park your car in gear either?

why would you park your car in gear anyway? This is assuming you drive a manual.

^If you park on a steep hill it helps to put it into gear opposite the direction the car is sloping (car facing downhill, put it in reverse) in case the parking brake fails. If you have a turbo, a timer is a good idea, it's a ~$100 safety check. Same with an oil cooler, not needed unless you drive the car hard, but it's a good safety check, in case you need it, or just in to help extend the life of the oil/motor.

I think the only time you need a turbo timer is if its multi-function. Or you could just keep your engine idle for like 30 seconds, and turn it off yourself. That is unless you were Track racing.

I don't trust e-brakes. Plain and simple. I always leave my car in gear. I've seen cars roll away too often cause of failed e-brakes. There's a great picture in a 300ZX brake thread in the convertible forum where a car rolled backwards down a hill and was totalled. All because he didn't leave it in gear and the e-brake wasn't strong enough.
