If you have the apex one (don't know about the others) You have to get an adapter for the lock cylinder to get the key out during countdown.

Or take the plastic cover off so you can see the little clip that keeps it from turning all the way back. My old auto 240 had this and it was broken. So I just finished taking it apart.

You shouldn't need a turbo timer if you got a bb turbo.

Juet let it run for like 30 seconds before you turn it off, or before you turn it off just don't run it hard.

Whoever says you need a turbo timer, go argue with Sean Morris, owner of RBmotoring.

ok I have a turbo timer question... sorry for the thread jacking:pface

I installed my Apex'i Timer on my KA afew days before I did the swap, and it worked great on that motor... I would pull the key, and could walk away and it would run for the set time and shut off. perfect right?

but now with the CA, it cuts the power just like before, but then kicks back on before the motor has shut off, and starts the time over again. Like the motor keeps running for a split second too long, and the timer starts over. Its really annoying because the car never shuts off that way:( any suggestions? Maybe my idle is too high, so it doesn't shut off? Its idling at 800 on the dot

ONly thing I could think of is check the wiring, something might be off just a little and thats whats going on. That would be where I would start and proceed from there.

Really, don't even use it. It's a waste of money, and as long as you give your car some TLC before you turn it off, it's not even needed.

Like I said, Sean Morris, owner of RBmotoring, he does NOTHING but tune Skyline GTRs day in day out, and he doesn't use one, and he even says use your "money on something better, like strippers"

I haven't talked to Nick Wong directly about this issue (he was in this year's SCC USCC with his R32 GTR) but his car was tuned personally by RBmotoring, so I would guess that he doesn't use a turbo timer either :)

I personally won't use one when I get my car with the CA18DET. But I have found a better solution to a Turbotimer, the Compustar system, has a system where the car will run until you open and close the door.

That should be more than enough time for modern BB turbos to "cool down"

I think that its more of a convinience factor. If you have to hurry up and get somewhere I wouldn't like to sit in the car for an extra X amount of time. I would rather just get out and go....then let it do its own thing.
