I wasnt too sure about this, but Im looking into buying a 3000GT VR-4 to my collection. I know the transmission isnt very reliable from previous posts, but I wasnt sure about the turbo. Can it be intercooled? Maybe it is already in some way, other than a intercooler. Id like to know before I dropped big money on one. I like the All wheel drive setup and options(lots more options than 240) on the VR-4 otherwise Id do an engine swap on my 240.

I don't know for sure, but I believe it is twin intercooled from the factory. I think it uses two side-mount intercoolers. Much like the 300ZX.

I was considering buying a VR4 before i bought my 1990 240sx. I looked up the reliablity of the car in Consumer Reports and decided that it was not worth it. I decide that I would rather get a 240sx and turbo it. I had a friend who's father had vr4. It was very nice and He had few repairs to it. But then I found out he only had 37k on it so i'm not supprised that it was in prefect condition. I never really trusted DSM reliability, i like nissans and toyota's better.
