i have a s15 t28 BB turbo. i disconnected my stock skyline BOV because i dont have anything to rout it to the intake pipe. it leaks so the vacuum causes my car to bounce idle so i just diconnected the BOV. i heard (keyword heard) that on a BB turbo that surge shouldnt be too bad on the turbo do to the fact of BB's. is it true or should i wait til i can route the BOV so it doesnt surge anymore

according to Garrett their isn't any supportive evidence that shows compressor surge shortens the life or damages turbos regardless ball bearing or journal. Its kinda like one of those it "Sounds good on paper" theory. Their have been several OEM cars that do and dont use BOV's and the turbos that go over 100k miles are still ok. The CA equipped vehicles didn't come with BOV's and their have been numerous ones that have gone over 100k on stock turbo/motor etc etc and no signs of complications.

yea at up to say 10 psi, I wouldnt be the LEAST bit worried about it.

If you were pushing 18 psi, then you could begin to worry, but many do and never look back.

I lugged my Kenworth down too low with a really heavy load a few times and got some mad turbo surge, no noticeable damage...

I ran my GT28R w/o a BOV/recirc valve for a year w/o a problem and the current CA T25 I've got now has got at least 90K miles on it and is still working great.
