Well my motor is in, running like a champ. The only thing is when the turbo spools, it makes like a buzzing noise, like what a bee makes when it flys around, but it gets more high pitched as the RPM's go up. Is this a sign of a bad turbo? I didn't get to check the turbine yet, I plan on it tomorrow but it spools fine and boosts to 7 PSI like it should.

Search for a blown gasket in the intercooler/turbo area. Leaks can make you hear weird noises

also, double check all of your exhaust couplings. especially the turbo to exhaust mating area. I had a very weird noise that sounded like a mix between a duck and paper flapping in the wind, and I had lost two nuts of the four that hold the turbo on. it blew the gasket out

What would it sound like with lots of shaft play though?

You would hear a loud shrieking noise as the turbine and/or compressor wheel contacted their respective housings.

For the 5 minutes it takes, just pull off your intake pipe and see if there is radial (or is it lateral?) shaft play, and if so, if it's enough to let the wheel touch the housing.

I didn't get a chance today, but I will check all of those tomorrow. It's a funny noise, like a buzz noise... I can't explain it but it's not like it's grinding the sides of the housing or anything, more of a bearing noise, or a gasket leak so I well definatly check that tomorrow. Thankls for all the help.
