i have been reading on and off for a couple of years now and was wondering if what i have on my ka-t is good for what i am going to do. my motor is blown the compression is 80-90 on 3 of the cyl. and 150 on the other plus it smokes alot... duh. even like that with the bov leaking (which i am getting another) another leak in the back of the intake mani (around the stock fpr) it still pulles 4-5 lb on the boost gauge and can hear it in the bov when i let off the gas. is the turbo to small for the ka, this is what i could find on the turbo.

The “T4 Rotary” turbo is suited for perfectly for high exhaust energy motors. It is a perfect fit to the Mazda rotary motors. Larger Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, 4 and 6 cylinders seeking 475HP+ with very fast spool. This combination of AR (Hot/Cold) results in a quick spooling turbo for the Mazda motors. Other motors should consider resizing the exducer housing to change lower the RPM at which peak boost is achieved. We offer a wide range of supporting add-ons: Intercoolers, blow-off valves, supply lines, inlets, stainless intercooler tubing, intakes, waste gates, turbo manifolds, headers, etc.

T4 Rotary / FC3S FD3S

it came with the kit i bought. I am getting another engine with good comperssion that runs from a junk yard to put in while i rebuild this one. the waste gate is a 38 mm, the exhaust mani is a top mount ebay one that i had decked for good seal, ebay ic and i am running a fmu that has a 10:1 ratio and a 255 fuel pump stock injectors and ecu.
By the way the new motor is out of a 95 240sx do i have to change the head to make it work with my 91 240sx ecu. simple yes or no is good enough.

Seems a little big for my taste, but not horrible I guess.

Probably better for built. As said its a little big, so will have some lag. But would be much better at 15+ psi than it would be at <10psi.

Just depends on what you want. Quick spool vs higher boost. If you want to keep the same turbo for stock engine and built engine, then something in the T3/T4 size (with T3 flange) would be the best option. If you want something just for the stock engine and would upgrade later you go smaller (even a T28 bottom mount setup would work well), but then if you are wanting more boost on a built engine you may need to go top mount later one and would be more money.

Decision is up to you. But for the most part a T4 flanged turbo on a KA is going to be for mostly drag applications on built motors running high boost. T3 for top mount is kind of the standard on a KA.

I am more into drag racing but I would like to have a drag setup and a daily driver / drift setup (just starting to get into it). I will start to look for a t3 to start putting together.
thanks.
