I am looking at a turbonetics to4e ballbearing turbo 50 trim ar63. I run 10 psi and until I rebuild my internals will probably keep it that way. Ran a bottom mount t25 before. Just wondering if the to4e is too big, maybe laggy. Would a smaller AR be better? Thanks in advance for any info.

I run that size turbo- non-bb though, it will have noticeable lag over a t25, I still hit 11#s by 35-3600

I was thinking a 48 ar would have less lag. Anyone tried one?

I have a t3/to4e 50 trim with .48a/r on mine. It spools 11psi at 3400rpm.Its a hard hit when at full boost, that turbo is a very good choice.*edit*non ball bearing

Are we talking about a full TO4E or a T3/TO4E, cause I have both. One is laggy and one isn't.

The full TO4E doesn't come in a .48AR I don't think. So I'm assuming the turbo we're talking about is a hybrid T3/T4. In which case, if you don't plan to run more then 20 psi you should use the .48AR since it will have less lag but still enough exhaust housing flow to support 20 psi of boost without becoming to much of a restriction.

That is kind of what I was wondering. Was not sure because I have not used a BB before, thought the .63 may spool pretty fast anyway.

I have the .63 journal bushing type. I don't find this turbo to laggy by my standard. However, some like the instant boost achieved with a crappy T25 setup. To those people, the T3 is just to laggy...lol. I had a 10 psi of boost by 2900 rpm and a full 20 by 3500. The .48 takes spool about 500 rpm faster then the .63 but is more od a restriction. So at the same boost the .63 will make a touch more power. But this doesn't become apparent until you boost more then say, 12 psi. Then the larger turbine housing will start to make more power on a steady inclide for the rest of the rpm band.

If that doesn't make sense let me know.

Easy way to figure it out, if you want more then 400whp, use the .63 if not use the .48.

Done and done
