ok, ive started my engine a few times now, and i dont have the IC hooked up or a downpipe, and it is throwing oil out of the hot pipe and a little bit out of the exhaust. When i took the turbo off before dropping the engine in, there was aprox a cup of oil or so in the compressor side of the turbo, this seemed strange to me but there was absolutley no shaft play at all so i figured they had poured the oil in there to keep it from seizing or something so i poured it out. the oil out of the exhaust side is starting to go down even though its still blowing white smoke, but the oil out of the compressor is starting to worry me and im affraid to hook my IC up. has anyone else had this happen or is this something i should be worrying about?

check the pressure in the oil line to the turbo, make sure theres no kinks or blocks in the return line. if the pressure is too high u may ned to install a baffle

went back to the garage tonight, fired it back up, and after finding out that it was reving so high and running rough was because of the throtle cable being too taught and it was bouncing off the rev limiter (so much for breaking it in easy haha), i got it idleing well, and it finally stopped blowing oil. Its still smoking, but i figure thats normal after sitting so long, so im very relieved and everthing looks like its going to run ok:-)

Good to hear, because my turbo had oil in it when i received my clip as well. I checked and their was no shaft play either. I was hoping it was just something that happened during shipping. Now theres some hope! LOL

if that much oil is in the compressor....i would reconsider running that turbo...seemed like the seals is bad...

i was thinking a cup of oil was a little too much for just seals being bad. its a 96 series II motor with 35k on it, no modifications. Im not saying they arent bad, but it has stopped blowing oil, im going let it sit a while and try again and see b4 i hook up the IC piping.
