well after removing my intake system from the turbo i found light oil deposits in the housing of my turbo and was wondering if that was normal for a new turbo or am i leaking oil threw my seals?

sounds like your turbo is starting to blow some oil out the intake.

It's bearings/seals are going.

It might last another 100 days, and it might blow tomorrow, never know...if you take it easy on it I'll last longer I'm sure than if you're wailing on it though.

I assume being in NJ your winter is going to start soon - if you don't drive the car in the winter, it should be fine to make it until then I'd hope. Plan on getting a new turbo, or rebuilding that one for when you want to have fun with it when the sun starts shining out again though

If teh crankcase is vented to the intake before the turbo with no catch can, it may just be some light oil mist being blown out with the blow-by. As long as shaft play and oil pressure is kept in check, then you should be fine.

no i dont have anything vented into the intake so it must be from the turbo. it has less thatn 200 miles on it i dont know why it would go like this. no shaft play at all and a tiny bit side to side but none front to back. were can i find seels for a t3/04e and what can i do to prevent them from going out on me again? thanks

If it's not too much I wouldn't worry about it, especially if the shaft play is minimal....theres always some oil in my intake too due to the crank case being ventilated there...

what type of oil pressure are you seeing at idle and full load, oil may be forced through the seals due to high pressure, an turbo should not see more than 25-30 psi of oil pressure,

so you might wanna try an oil restrictor this will lower oil pressure to 5 psi at idle and a max of 30 at load.

its cheap and its always better to take the cheaper route before you got no choice and are 100% that its the seals.

or you can make one yourself.

yeah i have a restrictor but i took it off when i redid my turbo feed line and lost it but i have another one i havent put on there yet. yes thats a good point. im going put the oil restrictor on and wipe away the oil to see if the less oil pressure will stop the leak. also when i did my feed i got rid of the oil pressure sensor and just ran strait oil lines but i want to get an electronic oil pressure gauge for next time and just tee off of that same spot to read oil pressure better. the car never has over heated with the oil temp gauge in the cluster and no smoke has come from my turbo as of yet. but if i have to replace the seals is it a big deal??/
