we finally got the turbo off,

we took off with the manifold then unbolted it fromn there, all the nuts and bolts holding the turbo to the manifold were bit@#$!! specially the ones with the clips.

the coolant lines that bolt on from the turbo to the engine have bolts with little holes that I assume are suppose to line up with the hollow lines right?

now when we retightened the lines how to we know if they have lined up?? do we need to torque them down to a specific spec??

thank you for your help:help :help :help :help

They don't need to be lined up, LOL, thank god.

Just tighten them down. The line has a groove around the middle of the end that the fluid flows through.

Tighten the oil eye bolt going into the block and the coolant eye bolt in the block to 12-15. The bolts going into the turbo can be 14-23 ftlbs, the oil return bolts will be 9-12 ftlbs. Dont forget to put on the copper gaskets on the eye bolts.

Got my turbo off too. I have questions, when you put it back on, do you have to replace that copper washers/gaskets or whatever that are on each side of the banjo bolt? Would they leak if I don't replace them? Where to buy?

no, you can reuse them. get new ones if you want though. I didn't, and I have had no problems.

You are supposed to replace them according to the FSM, but if they are in good condition, they can be reused. Use your best judgement.

I'm getting ready to replace the gaskets myself.. manifold to extension leaking like crazy. Can you guys give me a time frame of how long it took you guys to replace those gaskets?

It took me 20 min to replace all the gaskets when the turbo was off the car. I replaced the gaskets, sealed them with an exhaust sealant and also replaced the studs on the 02 extension that hold the downpipe. It all depends on the tools that you have.
