Best method of extraction after the DP is removed? It looks like the whole exhaust mani's gonna have to come off.

just wait til u have to put on the coolant and oil lines. the first time is always fun :) if ur pulling the turbo and mani up out of the car instead of dropping it through the bottom i think u have to take out the catch can

i should have enough room i think. unless the catch can is blocking the EGR flange. And if i do have to remove it. big deal.

Remove the heatshield, that box that's holding the o2 sensor plug, dp, hotpipe and have a set of box wrenches handy. The coolant and oil plugs on the turbo can be accessed from the bottom, kinda hard, but I tightened mine that way. The line at the top is easy to get to once the heat shield is off. That leaves the 4 bolts at the bottom of the exhaust manifold. That's where the box wrenches come in. The one towards the head, closer to the firewall was a PITA to get to. Good luck with those. You'll have to remove the intake hose, and the curved pipe that fits that hose, the pipe on the side of the turbo to get the bugger out.

here's a tip, cut both water lines (take out about a 2in length) and replace it with Power Steering hose (DO NOT use fuel line or regular heater hose). That way you have somthing that will flex a little when you put it back together. It knocked like 2hrs off my re-assemble time.

But whatever you do DO NOT use it on the oil line. That operates at a much higher pressure.

Hope that helps a little.

Feel free to give me a shout if you need an extra hand. Give me a shout on the cell if you need to. My sister is getting married this weekend but I'll be glad to help next weekend or later this week.

The first tim it's also easier if you take out the turbo with the manni because of those damn little tabs that keep the nuts from turning. I HATE those things. I went to nissan and got some nuts that are crushed on one end a little. They never back off like the stock ones and you don't need the little clips.

i would say undo lines first, dp next, then the manifold (and anything else in your way), then when you get it out, you will easily be able to separate the two. the gaskets are just ttz 90-95 and regular sr gasket worked for me. that leak sucks by the way.

Taking it apart is the hardest actually (especially the lines). Putting it back together is a cinch. The whole job shouldn't take you that long, it's just the exhaust manifold nuts, take forever b/c you have to keep flipping the wrench and doing 1/8th turns for some of them.
